FIFA opens official World Cup store on Lincoln Road

The 2026 FIFA World Cup arrived in retail form this week.

FIFA opened its official World Cup merchandise shop in Miami Beach, with 7News cameras capturing a line of people outside the store at the grand opening on May 18. The store is the official outlet for licensed Cup merchandise as South Florida prepares to host matches this summer.

The opening fits a broader Miami Beach build-up to the tournament. The Miami Beach Bandshell has scheduled a series of free "Rhythm of the Cup" watch parties, including Argentina v Austria on Monday, June 22 at 6:00 p.m. and Scotland v Brazil on Wednesday, June 24 at 6:00 p.m. Both are free with RSVP and pair the big-screen broadcast with food and beverage service on site.

For residents, expect the foot traffic on Lincoln Road to thicken as the tournament approaches and the watch parties begin. If you plan to attend the Bandshell parties, RSVP in advance; the venue is treating them as ticketed-style events even at no cost. Parking around the Bandshell and the North Beach corridor tightens quickly when a match is on the screen.

Mount Sinai shows off Braman Comprehensive Cancer Center

cording to Local 10. The walk-through gave elected officials a first look at the facility, which consolidates cancer services on the Mount Sinai campus on the west side of the island.

For residents, the practical effect is a larger oncology-care footprint on the island, on the Mount Sinai campus, instead of another off-beach medical trip.

West Avenue Phase II walkthrough Thursday

cording to the city events calendar. The Phase II work is one of the larger active capital projects on the island and the walkthrough is the standard format the city uses to brief residents on construction sequencing, drainage, and street-level impacts.

West Avenue residents and businesses along the corridor are the immediate audience. If you live or operate on the West Avenue alignment, the walkthrough is the most direct way to get specifics on lane shifts, utility cuts, and timelines from the project team rather than secondhand.

Two Business-Ready events at City Hall on Thursday

The city is running two business-focused events the same morning.

Miami Beach Business-Ready Day is scheduled for Thursday, May 21 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Connect One-on-One with DBPR Representatives runs Thursday, May 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., according to the city events calendar.

The DBPR session gives local operators direct access to state Department of Business and Professional Regulation staff for licensing questions that are otherwise hard to resolve quickly. Both events appear on the city's featured events list this week.

New beach club planned for Art Deco District

A new 11,500-square-foot beach club is set to debut in Miami Beach's Art Deco District, according to a What Now report dated May 11.

The project adds a sizable hospitality footprint in the city's historic core.

It is one of several openings in the pipeline for the island. Genghis Cohen is set to open in Miami Beach's Sunset Harbour, per What Now, and Casa Cañita debuted in Miami Beach as a boutique hotel experience inspired by Cuba's golden age. The cluster of food, beverage, and lodging openings is worth watching as World Cup traffic builds this summer.

Mayor Meiner to lead national group of Jewish mayors

ported. The group is framed as a response to a nationwide increase in anti-Semitic incidents, and Meiner's role places Miami Beach at the center of a coordinated municipal response.

The announcement landed the same week local police reported a separate incident on the island. Two German tourists were arrested Monday after an anti-Semitic message and symbol were written on a "LGBTQIA+ bench" at Lummus Park, according to Local 10. WSVN reported four men were detained after allegedly vandalizing the Ocean Drive LGBTQ bench with hateful symbols, and that local leaders have spoken out.

Residents should expect continued city attention to Lummus Park and the Ocean Drive corridor, both as a tourism artery and as a recurring flashpoint.
